THE TRIP AT THE AFROBA-NORMALLY ON THE LAST SATURDAY- WITH VINTAGE VINYL SESSION 66---25/9/2010. PLAYLIST and JIMS RAMBLINGS. MORE AT www.jimz.biz and FACEBOOK-JIM B. DONOVAN or AFROBA GROUP.
Variety is supposed to be the spice of life, and after last months ”focussed” jazz evening and next months Halloween special, I suppose you could say session 66 was pretty varied. I always start the evening with some plans in mind, but usually after a few requests we just seem to “go random”. Anyway that’s what the customers seem to want so who am I to deny them. It helps that I had 15 LP cases and 4 sevens boxes with me, which gives me the freedom to wander about! I started very focussed even keeping the chat down to a minimum, only checking the tunes about an hour and a half in and then going another hour an a half doing the same. After that when it got busy I did start to rabbit more, and of course I notice it more now as the recording picks up my chat, which it didn’t on the old mixer. Now I am leaving the spare equipment in situ you now have another “trip type” evening to get down to. The Mighty AC with his Tracks and Grooves is on the last Thursday. Also the new afroba FACEBOOK and THE TRIP pages are up and running so join the groups to be kept in touch with happenings. Next month we do our annual spooky session, a night earlier than usual so get witched-up, on FRIDAY OCTOBER 29th!-BCNU…Jim.
