PLAYLIST FOR THE TRIP-WITH VINTAGE VINYL-SESSION 96, 23/2/2013. MORE PLAYLISTS AR www.jimz.biz , click on links, then JIMZPLAYLISTS. ALSO NOW AVAILABLE TO LISTEN TO ON MIXCLOUD-JIM B. DONOVAN. NEXT SESSION MARCH 30 th. –ALWAYS ON THE LAST SATURDAY.
Well considering I was not in the best of health, I managed to get through five and a half hours without too many problems, I think! The bar was pretty busy with a nicely full and seated crowd for the first few hours, then a pretty packed one later on. I personally like the early segment as “mellow”, really suits Milk, but that did not stop the evening morphing into a bit of a “rave –up”(now that’s an expression that shows my age), later on. It was so busy I could not easily get at my LP/12” boxes, so relied a lot on the sevens boxes which were with me behind the decks. As a result the evening became a little more “vintage top 40 orientated” than usual. If you do take a listen to some of it on Mixcloud, head for the most obscure one –The 35 th Street Band-with the “Dance Of Love”, as the very opposite of top 40. This one suffered sales wise because it deals with an African fertility dance-say no more!
I pop up again on MARCH 5th , with my jazzorizit night NO ROOM FOR SQUARES, always on the first Tuesday, and Smiler and Keith dj at another “jazz tinged session” at MILK on March 9th. ”Jazz”, is back, or like vinyl, has it ever been away?
Thanks for reading this. Next month I hope to be able to tell you a little about the film I have a very small part in, that also included Milk in its location shoot. See you on the red carpet !-Jim.
