TRIP 30/03/2013

THE TRIP PLAYLIST WITH VINTAGE VINYL, SESSION 97 AT MILK, READING ON SATURDAY 30th MARCH 2013, WITH Jim. More playlists at  www.jimz.biz and listen to this session recorded on MIXCLOUD-Jim B. DONOVAN. NEXT SESSION ON SATURDAY APRIL 27th, always on the last Saturday.

Well considering I had been involved with Andrews night at MILK, two nights before, where we played to a very packed house, I was not expecting an enormous turnout. Wrong! A very busy evening, with me in the middle of 5 continuous sessions in almost as many days. No “plot” as usual, and quite different from last month, with less requests, leading to me “doing my own thing”, corny expression! The response to this and my other session at MILK, on the first Tuesday-NO ROOM FOR SQUARES- on MIXCLOUD has been very good, so those of you who were there, but not paying too much attention, can now listen back at your leisure. The next session links with the “Are You Listening” Festival, so who knows what will get on?
BCNU-Hopefully/Jim.

WATERBOYS---WHOLE OF THE MOON, for shelagh.
ROOTS MANUVA---DREAMY DAYS, requested.
METERS---HERE COMES THE METER MAN, back in the sevens box.
ETTA JAMES---OUT ON THE STREET, played two nights before to the delight of the mighty ac.

DEE LITE---GROOVE IS IN THE HEART, sort of “poptastic”
STONES ROSES---FOOLS GOLD, GUY CALLED GERALD MIX, different gerald remix.

Well another one in the can, this one with a little latin/bossa flavor due to our friends from the Oxford Arts Group being in attendance. Thanks to them for coming the distance. The other tunes were pretty random, with no set theme, and ranged from 70’s syn-jazz! to polish 60’s jazz, via quite a lot of “dinner jazz”, early in the evening, and an attempt to get in a little more vocal jazz than usual. Thanks to Tim for bringing in the final tune, a very modern one, for me anyway! The next session is on TUESDAY MAY 7th, always on the first Tuesday. Look forward to your company/Dr.Jazzicus Hep or just plain Jim.
