The trip session 62, with vintage vinyl at the afroba, the last Saturday each month- 29 th. May 2010, Playlist and Ramblings. More at www.jimz.biz and Jim B Donovan on Facebook (Photos and all!!)
Well little did I know when I started the evening at 6.30, that the first two tunes would just about sum the night up. “It’s going to be a fine night tonight” and “Something Else”. In a nutshell it was a hectic one, with a lot of my “planned” tunes, like Sun Ra , not getting on , due to a switch to a long party disco segment, when it gradually dawned on me I was doing my own birthday disco. Thanks to the crew therefore for the cake, the dressing up, the vibe, and to the Mighty AC, for stepping up to the decks to give the old boy a break. During the break I chatted to so many customers who seemed to like what was happening. All I could say was thank you, and come again, at least whilst I still have the enthusiasm! Like all good things that come out of improvisation, the armwrestling contests gave the evening an added charm, as did the dancing. I was so relaxed!, that I let the dancing happen close to the decks without my usual shout to keep well away to avoid record skipz. So the session gets played back during the evenings during June and the session is back on JUNE 26th., with the Mighty AC guesting/
