TRIP 07/04/12

The TRIP SESSION 85-WITH VINTAGE VINYL at MILK-previously the afroba-READING. PLAYLIST FOR THE EASTER SPECIAL ON APRIL 7th 2012. MORE PLAYLISTS at www.jimz.biz click on jimz playlists. NEXT SESSION A WEEK LATER THAN USUAL ON MAY 5 th., but normally on the last Saturday, with the one following on MAY 25th……
Well we went with the session a week later than usual because I was at the NEC, with a memorabilia fair, but the Mighty AC, did the session for me on the last Saturday, and a great job he made of it, if the playlist is anything to go by. His next night TRACKS and GROOVES is at MILK on 26 th., APRIL, with playlists on the T. and G. facebook page.
So I usually try to sum up the session, but how can you describe a night that goes from spiritual jazz to meatloaf!
I intended for an easter “theme” and got a few on, but generally the night, which was a very busy one, just wandered off as it usually does into all sorts of directions. The plot always has been to play soul related music from the 40’s to the 90’s, but we often wander off into a little rock/indie, when the mood and the crowd take us (too many years of me running a mobile !). I had a box of hip hop close to those waiting to be served, so they dug thru’ it and that lead to a lot of requests going on. The recording of the session sounds ok, and you can sense the vibe during the last two hours, when I really was flinging them on, and not talking quite as much “as usual”
Tim has, in a few short months, taken the bar to a whole new level, and it’s great to see the events board on the rear wall full of gigs and happenings.
So onward and upward, BCNU-Jim
