TRIP 26/02/2011

THE TRIP AT THE AFROBA-WITH VINTAGE VINYL-NORMALLY THE LAST SATURDAY EACH MONTH-PLAYLIST FOR SESSION 71 ON 26th FEBRUARY 2011. MORE PLAYLISTS AND DETAILS AT www.jimz.biz, also JIM B. DONOVAN and AFROBA GROUP ON FACEBOOK, which you are welcome to join.
Well I thought I had better listen to the full recorded playback before making these comments as the vibe on the night, due to a much lower turnout than usual, did not seem to be there. However in spite of this the recording of the night gives hardly any hint of that, other than because the bar was not full I did not play as much “up” stuff as I would have done. The plot was to play lots of Gil Scott Heron, as the artist of the night, which I did, and pay tribute to Sir George Shearing, which I also did. The intended Detroit techno segment and the Tom Moulton disco tunes I cut back on, as well as the Jungle portions , although a few got on.
The next session is a week later than usual on APRIL 2nd., with it’s sister session TRACKS and GROOVES, two nights earlier, on THURSDAY MARCH 31st, so please spread the word and let’s get these sessions back up there again. Thanks for reading this and please visit my revamped playlist site, which now has at least 20 other playlists for the trip and my other nights, at www.jim.biz, just click on LINKS-Jimz Playlists-
Thanks again-Jim.
